Guilt. It's a common feeling when running a business. Not feeling big enough, good enough, consistent enough. Or just not living up to the internal expectations we give ourselves. There's always room for improvement, you've just gotta be ready for it. The concept of a rebrand has been circulating around for quite some time. And it finally felt like the right time to go all in and make the change. To take up the space we deserve. To really challenge what we're made of. To commit to all those big and dreamy aspirations.

It's easy to lose track. It's even easier to forget to acknowledge what you've actually achieved. We needed a backbone for this ginormous project. To help provide a clear overview of the transition from For the Love of Vintage to Candy & Kitsch, Asana was the MVP of this whole flex.

For those of you unfamiliar with Asana, it's one of the many platforms out there that you can use to manage your workload. You can communicate, collaborate, and coordinate projects and it's the best place to spew all-of-the-ideas and work through them (and ticking things off is so fulfilling).

After years of loving the idea of Asana but never officially committing to using it, numerous post-it notes, phone memos and exceeding brain capacity weren't quite cutting it. We needed a universal dumping ground of ideas to free up some brain clutter. Holding onto all the things in-house isn't sustainable. Asana helped keep track of all the deep workings behind the biggest thing this pug loving trio has ever dreamed of. Being so engrossed, it is often easy to lose track of time and forget to document things along the way. Not anymore, homie!

Here's a little snapshot of our Asana account. Apart from those directly involved in the rebrand itself, a lot of this was secret squirrel business. The BTS planning of Candy & Kitsch was eventually shared with Patreons via weekly 'Sunday Secrets' posts in the lead up to the rebrand launch. Because all of this change was just too good to keep to ourselves.

After investing time in building the Asana board/s and adding it to the daily studio routine, we were able to:

  1. Visually see what's going on and how things are progressing.

  2. Directly share this resource with other parties as they assist with rebuilding the website.

  3. Walk away and know that everything will still be where it was.

  4. Reduce the level of cryptic notes found in the studio months after they were written.

  5. Reclaim our sanity and make time for important life things, like pug cuddles and naps.

So...

  1. Documenting this as early access content made us accountable.

  2. Real-time feedback was provided by the Patreon community to help us get to where we are today.

  3. The journey deserved to be archived.

What's also great about this? Content! Repurposing this material for the public post-launch gives it a different layer of value. The Kitsch Chronicles provides public access to these instalments. If you are curious about what's involved behind the business facelift, these blog entries are for you.

So, here we go. Let's wind back the clock and start from the beginning.
